Eug Breinig Pastor of This Ain’t Your Mama’s Church in Merced went home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 14, 2011.
He was born in Harrisburg, PA. on January 23, 1947 to Francis (Bud) Breinig and Ernie MacLennan. His family moved to Merced when he was six months old and has resided in Merced since.
On December 9, 2006 Eug had a dream come true when God allowed him and his wife Gwen with a ministry team to start a biker’s church named, “This Ain’t Your Mama’s Church.” It has been a wonderful testimony to the Lord and has continued to grow every year in the biker community of Merced County.
Eug had a great ability to love you just as you are, accepting you with God’s love because he had been so accepted by his loving Heavenly Father which changed his life completely. Eug loved his Bible and having Bible Studies where he would teach sometimes weeks on just one chapter. His favorite book was Proverbs.
Pastor Eug served this community in various ways: Assistant Pastor at Christian Life Center with Dr. Bill Stephens, Chaplin for various organizations (Blue Devil College Football Team, Merced Elks Lodge #1240 B.P.O.E., Merced Police Department, and S.O.T Biker Club, Special Olympics) and has ministered to hundreds of families through weddings and funerals.
He had a passion for ministry but everyone knew he loved to perform Carmen, loved the 50’s music, Southern Gospel Music and most of all riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle with friends. He also loved golfing, fishing, hunting, sports and cooking. He loved life! He laughed a lot and always had a joke to share. To his congregation you would find him saying, “God loves everyone, but I’m His favorite.” Though most of all we would say he loved his family.
Eug Breinig is survived by his very loving and supportive wife of 29 years Gwen Breinig. His children Eric (Amy) Silsey, Shani (Wyatt) Garcia, Ronnie (Bethany) Coyle, Kimberly (Tommy) Carrillo and Cori Breinig. He also had nine grandchildren and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His mother Ernie MacLennan and stepfather Jerry, Brother Frank (Nina) Breinig, and sister Kathy (Larry) Melgosa. Eug is preceded in death by his father Bud Breinig.
A Celebration of Eug’s Life will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive in Merced at 6 P.M. with a potluck dinner fellowship following in the This Ain’t Your Mama’s Church (CLC’s Family Life Center).
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to This Ain’t Your Mama’s Church Building Fund.
Arrangements under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, Merced, CA.
