

Evelyn Muse Birch passed peacefully in her sleep on February 7 at Sutter Roseville Hospital after a long struggle with a respiratory illness. Both of her daughters were at her side. Evelyn had just celebrated her 87th birthday the previous week. She was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma in 1937 and her family migrated to California in 1945. She attended Chowchilla schools and Hartnell College in Salinas. Evelyn eventually settled in central California. Evelyn married Franklin Martin, of Chowchilla, in 1955 and they shared two daughters, Cheryl and Fredi Susette. In 1982, Evelyn married the love of her life, William “Bill” Birch, also from Chowchilla. Evelyn and Bill shared 35 happy and laugh-filled years. She owned several businesses and finished her career at the State of CA Department of Corrections. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the DAR.
Evelyn was pre-deceased by her parents, her husbands, and all of her siblings. She leaves her daughters Cherie Martin Irwin (Richard); Susie Lupinetti (John), her granddaughters Francesca Hensen (Kyle), Tory Lupinetti, and grandson Patrick Hensen. Her large loving family included Aunt Marie Coy of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Karen Miller; 10 nieces and 7 nephews; and Bill’s son Gary Birch, granddaughters Chastity, Burke, Davee and Victoria Birch, and great-granddaughter Ella Burke.
The service will be Saturday, February 17th at 10AM at Chowchilla District Cemetery, Evelyn will join Bill with God and the angels.
