George Edward Slown

George Edward “Eddie” Slown passed peacefully Feb. 3, 2013 at home surrounded by family and friends.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Grace G. Slown and brother, Shelby Watt.

He is survived by dedicated wife, Sharon Slown; 3 children, Dustin Slown-Sanders (Wayne), Kim Slown-Benton (Bob), and Scott Slown (Dina); and 6 grandchildren that he loved, Ryan Randell, Brittaney and Alexa Benton, Joshua Slown, Omar and Elijah Merino.

Eddie was proud of his many works and service. He retired May 1, 2009 after 32 years of service to the Merced Irrigation District as a foreman. He enjoyed many years working with Cressey Sand and Gravel. His participation in the IBEW Local Union and as shop steward, coaching Merced City League Little Miss Softball as well as Merced Youth Boys Baseball were great times. Eddie served in the U.S. Army 1966-1972.

The family wishes to thank the many friends who lent their support, prayers, and unlimited kindness. Eddie enjoyed his friends and story sharing. Thanks must also be extended to the excellent doctors, nurses, and medical staff who assisted in Eddies care.

Memorial services are set for Friday, Feb.15th at 11:00 am at Stratford Evans Funeral Home, 1409 B Street, Merced CA 95340.
