Gloria Jeanette DalPorto

Gloria spent 12 years of her life in Oceanside, CA, and later moved to Planada, CA with her family. She graduated from Le Grand High School in 1957. She later moved to Merced, CA where she was a resident for over 60 years. Gloria was introduced to Paul DalPorto through a friend, they fell in love and married on May 16, 1959 in Planada, CA, this month marks their 57 anniversary. While living in Merced Gloria worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T as an Engineering Staff Associate. She was an active member with the St. Patrick Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved with Adult Bible Study and did Adoration for several years.

Gloria was very spirited, she enjoyed listening to music and dancing to the rhythm. She was very family orientated and loved spending time with her friends whom she loved dearly and considered them to be part of her family. Gloria especially loved traveling to Kansas and visiting with her granddaughters. In her down time, Gloria loved to read, she especially loved to read books that had a happy ending.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dora MacLachlan.

She is survived by her husband; Paul DalPorto of Merced, children; Joyce DalPorto Ward (Bryan) of Kansas and Michael DalPorto of Atwater, brothers; Robert MacLachlan (Becky) of Indio, CA, Ralph (Brenda) and Larry MacLachlan (Rosalinda) of Georgia, and Bill MacLachlan (Vicky) of Kansas, sisters; Helen MacLachlan, Maryann Nishihama (Joe) of Merced and Irene Ruiz (Paul) of Merced, grandchildren; Morgan and Sydney Ward of Kansas; half sisters, Diana and Becky Maclachlan and half brother Bobby MacLachlan all of National City, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria touched so many people, she had such a kind loving spirit and will truly be missed.

The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice of Merced, especially Dana, Mariah, Sudesh and Patricia for their help and support in caring for Gloria.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street Merced, California. A vigil service with rosary will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral mass following at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 671 East Yosemite Avenue Merced, California. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow at Stratford Evans Reception Hall. Please bring your favorite dish to share.
