Guadalupe Lozano Perez, was born on March 21, 1921 in Mexico, to Jose Perez and Maria Lozano Perez Guadalupe was one of three children, having a brother named Abelardo, and a younger sister named Luz. Guadalupe, nicknamed Lupio by his friends, was very social and his genuine interest in getting to know people resulted in many friendships. As Guadalupe got older, he became enamored with the beautiful young woman who lived next door. After exhibiting his charm he won the heart of the girl next door and on September 9, 1941, Guadalupe and Maria Rivas were married.
Guadalupe wanted to provide the best life he could for his growing family so he and his wife Maria along with his two young sons moved to California. He obtained a job with Striblings Nursey where he was employed for over 46 years. Guadalupe took pride in whatever he did and made sure to always put his best foot forward. During the peak working season, it was routine to gather the kids and Maria in his truck and take a ride to check on the irrigation. It was a time to bond and spend time with his family especially on long work days.
Guadalupe was a true “Jardinero”. . Landscaping, planting, and growing his own flowers from seed was one of his passions and one he and Maria shared. The flower beds that adored the home he and Maria built, were always full of colorful flowers and shrubs. He put his heart and soul into his flowers because he knew how much his beautiful Maria loved her flowers.
Guadalupe had a strong work ethic which complimented his commitment to providing the best for his family. Family was very important to him and he always made family outings a priority, trips to the Merced fair and Santa Cruz became rituals. He enjoyed dressing up at Halloween and was a good sport, wearing whatever costume was selected for him, no matter how outrageous it might have been.
Guadalupe lived his life with honesty, credibility, and compassion. He was a pillar of strength both mentally and physically. He was a genuine friend to those who knew him, a wonderful husband to his Wife Maria for 75 years and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
