Jacqueline Edna Shields

Jacqueline passed away peacefully Sunday surrounded by her loving husband and family after her courageous 5 year struggle with ovarian cancer.

She was born February 27, 1929 to Ova and John Leek in Hynes, CA, LA County. The family later moved to Coalinga, CA where she attended local schools. There she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Chanlor Shields. They lived a short time in Oakland, CA and when Chanlor joined the service, Jacqueline moved to Hawaii to be closer to him. After the war they made their home in Walnut Creek, CA where Jacqueline was employed by Kaiser. They moved to Merced in 1971 where they remained. She loved to laugh and she loved and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed meeting people and everyone she met was special to her.

Jacqueline was a member of the Merced Garden Club and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chanlor Shields; sister, Frances Mansell of Bakersfield; and her niece, Shirley (Morris) Nord of Bakersfield.
