Josephine Marie Jones

November 27, 1941 – May 21, 2011

Josephine Marie Jones was born to Manual and Hazel Frade on November 27, 1941 in Winton, California. Josie passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Josie worked most of her life in Merced County for Farmers Insurance, Farm Bureau Insurance, Merced County Farm Bureau and Merced County Election Department.

Josie was preceded in death by her mother and father and a sister, Hazel Parker.

She is survived by a sister, Dorthy Lema; brother, Manual Frade Jr. and her husband of 48 years, Kirk Jones.

Josie will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Josie had a great smile and even when she was sick she could still manage to flash you a smile. Josie loved sports especially volleyball, but her favorite past-time was line dancing. As she leaves this world she would like people to remember her favorite saying, “If you have the choice to dance of sit it out… I hope you dance.”

The family would like to thank the Merced Mercy Cancer Center and Hinds Hospice for their compassion and care during Josie’s fight with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home in Merced. Burial will follow at Merced District Cemetery.
