

She was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Gumercinbo and Eufemia Paiz. She was one of eleven children and she worked in the fields until she met her second husband Lupe Bejarano in 1969 in Merced, California. In the last few years after her husband’s passed she lived in McFarland with her daughter Delia. She enjoyed playing lotteria and visits from family. She loved flowers and the color pink. She requested that no one wear black at her funeral instead to wear pink.
Julia was preceded in death by her first husband, Manuel Umada; second husband, Lupe Bejarano; and children, Frances Umada, David Umada, Ruben Umada and Albert Umada.
Julia is survived by her brother, Cecil Paiz; sister, Virginia Mendoza; sons Edward (Lisa) Umada, Fred (Rose) Umada, Daniel Umada, Lupe Jr. (Samantha) Bejarano; and daughters, Gloria (Alfredo) Mendoza, Delia (Guillermo) Martinez Gonzalez, and Lupita Umada. She also leaves behind 33 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street Merced, CA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 213 Orange Avenue, Chowchilla, CA. Burial will be held at a later date in December at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California.
