Kathryn M. Sanders

Kathy Sanders, a resident of Merced since 1966, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2011. She was born on May 7, 1934, in Battle Creek, Michigan.

She worked in retail sales for many years and was also a motel manager for many years. She attended Merced Jr. College, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader.

Kathy was a member of Merced First Baptist Church and served as librarian and tape coordinator for many years. She also served as deaconess in the past.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ed Sanders of Merced; her daughters, Ann Lake and her fiancé Dexter Johnston of Laguna Hills, CA, and Patricia Genberg and her husband Dave of Rochester, Minnesota; and her sons, Don Wolfe and his wife Taeko of York, Nebraska; Michael Wolfe and his wife Nancy of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Jim Lake and his wife Chandra of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Paul Lake and his wife Melinda of Rescue, CA. She is also survived by her siblings Ruthann Wilde of Merced, CA; Pat Kaneko and her husband Jeff of Stockton, CA; Grace Chema and her husband Frank of Trout Creek, Montana; John Owczarzak and wife Naida of Merced, CA; Joel Craw and his wife Pat of Battle Ground, Washington; and Dave Trewhela and his wife Ann of Cornwall, England. She also has fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Ann Owczarzak of Merced, CA, her brother Roger Ellis of Battle Creek, Michigan, and her sister-in-law Barbara Herfurth of Merced, CA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 3:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Stratford Evans Funeral Home in Merced. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:00 o’clock a.m. at Stratford Evans Funeral Home in Merced and will be officiated by her daughter, Pat and son-in-law, Rev. Dave Genberg of Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Funeral Home of Merced. Internment will be private.
