

Kenneth James Dickinson passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 65, after a lengthy illness. Born on January 11, 1960, in Merced, California, Kenny was the third child of George and Joan Dickinson. He attended schools in Le Grand, where he discovered a passion for building through the Regional Occupational Program in high school. This early interest led to a lengthy career as a house framer for various contractors throughout Merced County. He frequently built both functional and beautiful things for family, friends, and people familiar with his work.
Kenny met Sheila Oliver shortly after high school. They married in 1981 and welcomed their daughter, Desirae in 1985. In 1991, Kenny married Karen Lord Campbell, becoming a stepfather to Misty Campbell, Kelly Campbell, and Chris Machado. Although Kenny and Karen eventually separated, they remained close friends.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, George and Joan Dickinson; former wife Sheila Heffington; sister-in-law Sandra Dickinson; and stepdaughter Misty Campbell. He is survived by his children, Desirae Dickinson, Kelly Campbell, and Chris Machado; wife Karen Dickinson; companion Lisa Smith; brother Jeff Dickinson; sister Karen Rodriguez (Ramiro); niece Melissa Dickinson; nephews Nick Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, and Kevin Dickinson (Laura); uncles John Dickinson and George Parker; and many cousins.
Kenny loved helping others with projects, having a good time with friends, playing pool, raising roosters and other animals, growing sunflowers and pumpkins, watching racing and the Raiders, and always taking the long route. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
