Letitia Ruth Miller, born June 27, 1922, passed away on February 23, 2021. Letitia was born and raised in Martha, Oklahoma and moved to California where she met and married Thomas Miller in 1946. They soon went into Ministry and opened the first mission in Anchorage, Alaska. They adopted 2 children, John Robert Miller (deceased) and Margaret Alice Rigdon (deceased). Davida Michelle Mendes (husband Eddie) was adopted in 1964. Davida is the last surviving child. Letitia raised many foster children. She served in the ministry with my father for over 50 years. They opened Merced Rescue Mission together in 1991-2004.
Letitia was an excellent wife and spiritual partner to Thomas Miller and followed him throughout many church ministries. She was an expert seamstress and taught sewing and knitting through Merced College. She was an outside person who also loved and raised Appaloosa Horses on the ranch in Winton, California. All who knew her loved and respected her. Many called her "Mom". Although Alzheimers/Parkinsons began to wither her away she never forgot who Jesus was and always spoke of Him to others. She shared dreams of Him taking her into Glory. She never knew a stranger and opened her home to many who needed a warm meal or soft place to lay their head. Always putting others before herself Letitia always made time to love and raise her children, doing her best to place her values and spiritual awareness in them. She was a woman to be set above, per her daughter Davida Mendez, there was none like her and she will be deeply missed.
Also surviving Letitia are her grandchildren, Jared Lee and Kacey Danille Skinner and great grandchildren, Jaxson and Benji Wells and Blake Skiner.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California. A Funeral Service will start at 11:00 a.m. with graveside following at 1:00 p.m. at Winton District Cemetery, Winton, California.
