Li Yang Xiong

She married Va Xai Xiong, son of Nhia Vang Xiong and Pa C. Lee.

Va Xai and Li have five daughters: Maila, Sam (Ying), Lorrie Youa, and Pakou. Li is a grandmother to grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In 1979, her family immigrated to the United States and originally settled in Chicago, Illinois for a few years. They eventually settled in Merced.

In 1992 her husband passed away, leaving her to raise their 5 daughters as a single mother, She never remarried.

Li is a sweet, loving, caring and compassionate person. She loves people and many love her in return. She loves her community and frequently helped with many functions.

Her favorite activities are gardening, spending time with her friends and family, and making her special rice wine.

A life-long Christian and committed member of the Lao Evangelical Church in Merced, her faith in God was steadfast to her day of passing May 18, 2019.

Her beautiful smile and tender touch will be missed. Until we meet again in heaven, she will always and forever be in our hearts.
