Marj was born January 5, 1934 in Moorefield, Nebraska to Bernice E. Swanson and Donald J. Swanson.
Marj lived in Moorefield and Curtis area from 1934 to 1988, where she and her husband Don had a farm and also did construction work and built one of the first underground homes in Curtis, Nebraska. Marj was also a Piano Teacher to many kids in the area and worked at Hilltop Nursery in Moorefield. She was a Member of Curtis Methodist Church and played the organ for years, she was a member of Curtis Golf Club. Before moving to California in 1988 one of Marjory's greatest joys was being the pianist for the Easter Pageant almost from the beginning of the Pageant in 1959 and missed only one performance in 1968 when her daughter Deann was born. She had the Pageant dedicated to her in 1989 for her dedication all those years. Marj truly enjoyed being around her children and grandchildren and loved to attend the many school events, 4-H events, walk-a-thons and the list goes on and on. She always was willing to open her house to whomever needed a loving place to hang out or a home cooked meal.
Marj and Don left Nebraska in 1988 to be closer to their daughter, Deann, who had moved to Fresno, California. Don and her started managing apartment complexes when they first moved to Fresno and then Marj took up Real Estate and worked as a Real Estate Broker for over 10 years in the Fresno and Madera, California area.
Marj and Don rarely missed a sporting event of their grandchildren in California attending many youth football, baseball, basketball and wrestling activities, and when Brock, Dylan and Kadon moved on to high school and college she was a loyal supporter. She never missed a MLB game on tv that her grandson Dylan participated in and was even able to attend a few in person.
Just before Don's passing, Marj had moved to Merced and lived with her daughter Deann, where she continued her avid reading, love of bowling, and working as a Hospital volunteer at Mercy Medical Center mostly in the gift shop, that was her "job" she dearly loved. Marj also spent many hours driving her grandson Kadon around Merced and Atwater on his many adventures and most of the time to the lake to go fishing.
Marj is survived by her son Ron Cole (Wife Diane) of Lincoln, NE; her daughter Debra Sellers (Husband Doug) of Wellfleet, NE; and her daughter Deann Floro (Husband Kent) of Atwater, CA. Her grandchildren, Broderick (Lisa) Floro; Dylan (Amber) Floro; Kadon (Maddie) Floro; Dawn Lea (Andy) Miller; Dana (Les) Reinke; Darren (Amy) Sellers; Donnie (Tonya) Welch; Staci (Dustin) Drake; Tom (Danielle) Wasson and her loving 12 Great-Grandchildren.
Marj was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald E. Cole; her parents Donald J. Swanson and Bernice E. Swanson; her step-mother Lou Swanson, her sister Betty Remus and her brother John Swanson.
Memorials are suggested to Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2201 Euclid Avenue, Hughson, CA 95326 or to a local Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service will be held in Nebraska at a later date with burial at the Moorefield Cemetery where Marjory & Don will be together once again.
