Mary Louise Washington was born on January 1, 1934 in Oakdale, Louisiana, to Lucille and Roy Gill. Mary passed away at the age of 84, on Monday July 23, 2018 in Merced, California where she was a resident for over 65 years.
Mary loved to cook for everyone that came to her home whether it was her baked goods, or her famous home cooking. You knew you always had a Cold Pepsi waiting for you when you came to visit. Mary’s other favorite past time was going to Yard Sales with her husband to find that great deal. Mary and her late husband Booker loved having their own yard sale every Saturday; where you could find them selling their treasures.
Mary is survived by her, sister-in-law Mae Washington; nephew Michael Washington; and many other family members and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband Booker T. Washington; her parents Roy Gill and Lucille Gill, and grandparents James & Louise Johnston.
A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street Merced, California 95341. Mary’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Merced District Cemetery, located at 1300 B Street, Merced, California 95341.
