Mattie I. Franklin

June 16, 1920 – May 15, 2010

At the age of 89, our beloved mother, Irene Franklin, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Although a native of Oklahoma, she became a long time resident of the Merced area, living close by those she loved and cherished. She was the heart of the Franklin family, dearly loved by us all, and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Guy Franklin and his wife Vivian, Bob Franklin and his wife Debbie, Rick Franklin and his wife Helen, as well as her daughters, Leona Weirich, Joyce Brown and her husband Joe, and Margaret Franklin; her grandchildren, Lisa Gonzales, Ronnie Hotchkiss, Cynthia Fidel, Steven Weirich, Tommy Smith, Holly Alcorn, Jeremy Franklin, Eva Franklin and Ricky Franklin and was known as “G.G.” to 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Leon Sylvester Franklin, a daughter, Louene and a son, Fred.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 1920 Canal Street, Merced, Ca. Graveside services will follow at Stevinson Cemetery, Stevinson, Ca.
