Michael Lawrence Thiner

Michael Lawrence Thiner was born June 30, 1962 to Edward and Louise Thiner in Merced CA and passed away June 2, 2015 while swimming off the coast of Florida at the age of 52. Michael grew up in Merced and graduated from Merced High School in 1980. He worked for many years for Weller's Electronics and eventually purchased the store from the Weller Family. Michael was very proud of his children and loved to share everything they were involved in. He enjoyed many years playing racquetball with friends and family. He enjoyed mountain fishing with his friends,and listening to music. He loved to play all types of cards and could be found at duplicate bridge or at the local poker room. His constant smile and quick wit made him a favorite wherever he was. His last few years were spent traveling the US with his wife Judy in their RV experiencing new places, cultures, and foods. Wherever he traveled he made sure to keep in touch with his family and bring his children to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Louise Thiner, and his brother Dean Thiner. He leaves behind his children Brett and Ashley Thiner, his loving wife, Judy Thiner, her children Jennifer (JC) Cabral, Chuck (Chelsea) Thomason, Don (Rebecca) Thomason; grandchildren, Natalee,Cody, Tyler, Jackson, and Kali; brothers, Eddie and Kurt Thiner; sisters, LaVonne (Jim) Vann and Lorraine (Eric) Bocks and many nieces, nephews, and Cat.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall at 11:00 a.m. where family and friends will enjoy a lunch and share stories. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Make-A-Wish or OLM School Foundation 1400 East. 27th Street, Merced, Ca, 95340. Burial will be private at the Merced District Cemetery.
