Peter Alexander Vargas

August 25, 1952 – April 3, 2018

Peter Alexander Vargas lovingly known as “Sonny”, age 65 was a life time resident of Merced, California passed away on Tuesday April 3, 2018. Sonny was born on August 25, 1952 in Merced California to Mary Lousia Hermisillo and Pedro A. Vargas. Peter is survived by his son Peter A. Vargas; daughter-in-law Angelina; his five grandchildren; Ezquiel Castillo, Ethan Castillo, Adam Vargas, Tatiana Vargas, Santino Vargas; brothers Richard Manqueros, Michael Hermisillo, and Arturo Vargas; sisters Pat Maxwell, Rosa Pavey, and Laura Reyes; Sonny is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sonny was preceded in death by’ his parents Pedro A. Vargas and Mary Louisa Hermisillo his sisters Mary Ellen Lopez, Dolores Allen and Linda Bryson and by his beloved son Vincent A. Vargas (Bo). Sonny served his country proudly in the United States Army. Sonny was so artistically talented with his guitar being his first love that he embraced until his passing. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors; whether in the mountain, in the valley, or on the beach basking in God’s glorious sunsets. Sonny was loved my many and will be missed by all. A memorial service for Peter will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home Merced, California
