Richard Allan Pereira

Born in Merced Feb 23, 1946 to Tony and Emily Pereira, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2011 surrounded by his family. Richard was raised in Merced and was retired from the Merced County Mosquito Abatement. He married Joanne Mello on May 14, 1966 and raised two beautiful daughters together. Richard was a member of the American Legion, was active in FFA in High school, and served our country in the Navy Branch of service from 1966 to 1970. He did three tours of duty to Vietnam. He was an avid San Francisco fan for both the 49ers and the Giants. His hobbies included fishing, spending time with his many friends and family members and bartending two days a week at the Star Club. Richard and Joanne were married for 45 years and have two wonderful daughters, Trishann McParland of Merced and Barbra (Richard) Rowe also of Merced. He was blessed to have 6 wonderful grandchildren, Brooke McParland, Tori Rowe, Paige McParland, John Rowe, Bailey McParland, and Logan McParland.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Tony and Emily Pereira.

He is also survived by 4 brothers, Anthony (Lena) Pereira of Hilmar, Allan (Elizabeth) Pereira of Bakersfield, Tim (Shelly) Pereira of Idaho and Joe (Pam) Pereira also of Idaho.

Viewing will be available from 5-7 pm prior to the 7 pm rosary on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, and again at 9 am prior to the funeral services that begin at 10 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 all at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Merced.
