Santiago C Vargas

Santiago C. Vargas was born to Maria De Jesus and Salvador Vargas in Mexico on July 27, 1938 and passed away at the age of 78 on August 17, 2016 in Le Grand, California where he was a resident for 50 years.

Santiago lived life to the fullest, he was a hardworking man; he worked as a farm laborer at E and J Gallo Winery in Snelling, California. Nothing was more important than spending time with his family and he enjoyed spending time with friends.

Santiago came to California in 1966 to work in agriculture, he met the love of his life, Delia, in 1968, and they married in 1969. They then settled down in Le Grand, California where they raised their children.

Santiago is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Maria De Jesus Vargas; brothers, Elias, Rafael, and Jose Vargas.

He is survived by his Wife, Delia Vargas of Le Grand, California; sons, Luis (Maria) Vargas, Jesse (Sofia) Vargas, Francisco (Guadalupe) Vargas and Salvador (Tonya) Vargas; daughters, Adalia (Arnulfo) Torres and Rosita (Joe) Perales; step-daughter, Alicia Villarreal; brother, Dolores Vargas; sisters, Consuelo, Guadalupe (Jorge) Vera and Maria de Jesus (Alfonso) Cruz.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street Merced, California. A vigil service with rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 13145 Le Grand Road followed by funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Plainsburg Cemetery immediately following services.
