Violet Irene Peguero

Violet Irene Peguero of Merced passed away peacefully April 25, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.

Violet was born in Keota, OK to the late Alexander and Emma Shoopman. The Shoopman family moved to the Dairyland/Chowchilla area in the early 1930’s. It was there she grew up with her brothers and sisters and met the love of her life Mike Peguero. Violet and Mike married and enjoyed 55 happy years together raising their 5 children.

Violet is survived by her children, Mary Kovacs (Jesse Gonzales), Diane Fuentes (David), Patricia Sawyers (Steve-deceased), Annette Peguero all of Merced, and Steve Peguero (Rosemary) of Visalia; ex son-in-law, Richard Kovacs of Toutle, WA; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and one on the way.

Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Mike; son-in-law, Steve Sawyers; her parents; brothers; and sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paskin and Hinds Hospice for the exceptional care they provided our mother.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced from 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Services will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
