

Walter E. Scott (Walt) 78, of Atwater, California born in Sacramento on April 26, 1936 succumbed to pancreatic cancer at his home in Atwater surrounded by loving family and friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
Walt entered military service in 1954 during the Korean conflict and proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force for 8 ½ years. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force Walt became a member of the California Peace Officers Association serving 23 years as a law enforcement officer with Merced Police Department and as a Special Agent for the Santa Fe RR.
Walt was a member of the Christian Life Center where he assisted with church security. Walt also had a tremendous love for old cars restoring them into classic hot rods and transforming rust buckets into mechanical works of art. He was a former member of the Yosemite Corvette Club and the Valve Burners Car Club. Walt was also a current member of the Valley Vintage Car Club. Walt also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles owning several bikes over the years. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Club.
Walt was proceeded in death by his parents Eli and Mildred Scott and his brother Jim. Walt is survived by his loving wife Freda of 59 years, sons Joe (Nycole) of San Diego, Jerry of Oregon and Jeff (Joan) of Merced, a sister Margie (Mike) Randall of Twain Hart, and many loving grandchildren, Sunny (Carrie) of San Diego, Misty (Daniel) of San Diego, David of Atwater, Chantel of Oregon, Jennifer (Joseph) of Virginia, Richard (Whitney) of Merced and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Walt was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all that knew and loved him. The memorial service will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Christian Life Center, 650 East Olive Avenue, Merced and the internment service will be Wednesday, February 3, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Road, Santa Nella,.
