Hollis Raye Mathis

Funeral services for Mrs. Hollis Raye Hastings Mathis will be held Saturday, October 17th at 2pm in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Overby will be officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

On the evening of October 13, 2015, Hollis passed away, surrounded by her family, after a battle with cancer.

Mrs. Mathis, 75, lived her entire life in Meridian, MS and was a cosmetologist by trade. During her career she owned her own salon, “The Lovely Lady” as well as working at various salons in the area. She was a believer in Christ. She will be remembered for her love of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Johnny Hastings Jr (Helen Gable) of Enterprise; daughter Crystal Hastings Daniel (Dr. Russell K. Daniel) of Mount Pleasant, SC, grandchildren Ryan and Katelyn Daniel; brother Tony Ethridge (Bonnie) and nephews Lee, Tyler and Tyson Ethridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Mathis; son Robin Lamar Morgan; mother Juanita Pool Holyfield; father John L. Ethridge Sr. and brother John L. “Bubba” Ethridge Jr.

Pallbearers will be Lee Ethridge, Tyler Ethridge, Tyson Ethridge, Jimmy McMullan, Keith Garrett and Pierce Dickson.

Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm the day of the service.
