I remember John from Central Queens Regional High School and Youth Group. He was always kind and soft spoken, so nice. I was in class with Ruth, and also knew Tony and Jill. It sounds like John had a life well lived and experienced many places and vocations. My condolences to all the family, may the Lord of all comfort bring you comfort and peace.

Dear David and family,
My condolences and prayers to you all at this time. I remember pastor John from his days at Trinity baptist, as a member and then as pastor. I read the obituary this morning and was amazed at the travels and experiences your father had. Most of us like to settle in one place and live our lives. It is evident that pastor John heard the calling of the Lord and went out into the world to be a light. Praying and thinking of you daily, until we see each other soon.

Pastor John Forrester is a very significant part of my personal journey in Christianity. His guidance at certain critical times was invaluable. His sermons were always well written and read, providing insight into the meaning of scripture. His most enduring legacy is in the wonderful family that he left behind.

We are so sorry that my dear brother in law, the beloved husband of my dear sister passed away. Last year we made a five day cruise on the river Rhine with John, Betty, David and our family . We never thought that would be the last moments we shared with John. We cherish those memories.

I had a great deal of respect and love for John. Like many others I was enriched by his life and impacted by his faith and commitment. He will be missed. Our prayers support Betty and the family during these difficult days until we are reunited with John and our Lord he loved and served. "Well done good and faithful servant ..."

I would like to give my sincere condolences to his wife and children along with his family. It was a great honour to have John as my teacher for two years at NVIT and when I moved forward into another area of studies. I and my Sister Lily would still stop by his class and say hello to him as we approach his class he would say here's trouble 1 and 2 this is how he referred to us as. I am going to miss seeing him around NVIT this next year. He will forever be in my heart as he made a big impact on my life during the time I have gotten to know him.

I was deeply sadden to hear about John's passing. Educationally, John and I had a lot in common. We both studied at Regent at about the same time, and at Fuller. In fact, I remember arriving in California for a retreat and class with Dallas Willard; John and I were both surprised to see each other. The same surprise happened when we both reported to the "new Pastors orientation in Bevearton Ontario in 2009, as we were both starting new pastorates in Ontario. I have fond memories of Betty and John traveling to Owen Sound to see family, and John and I would sit for 2 or 3 hours in a local coffee shop, a couple of times a year, and enjoy fellowship together. John called them our "counselling sessions." May the family know the comfort of our heavenly Father as they grieve the passing of a good man into the arms of the Saviour he loved and served. I will cherish the memories of my "counselling sessions" with my friend John, and look forward to the day we can resume our theological discussions in the Presence of the One who is Truth.
