Merritt Island

Anne Electa Potteiger (nee Hopkins), age 87, of Merritt Island passed away on January 6, 2011. She was born August 20, 1923 in Fairfield, Henrico Co., Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Anne Electa (nee Fox) Hopkins.

She was married August 4, 1942 to Daniel Ezra Potteiger who predeceased her on May 13, 2010. Following her retirement in 1967 as a civil servant with the Department of Defense, she and her husband moved to Palm Bay, Fl. In 2003 they moved to Merritt Island to be closer to their son. Anne enjoyed crocheting and sewing throughout her retirement years. .

Anne is survived by her son, William (Martha) Potteiger of Merritt Island, Fl. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Sharon (Todd) Babione of Mayo, FL, Catherine (Preston) Fant of Flagstaff, AZ, and Anne (Randall) Ivey of Albany, GA. She also leaves nine great grandchildren, Maria, Nathaniel, Enoch, Titus, Lydia & Josiah Babione; Noah and Hannah Fant; and Caleb Ivey. In addition she also leaves one brother, Robert K. Hopkins of Highland Springs, VA

Services will be held at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, Merritt Island, on Tuesday January 11, 2011 at 10AM. A short committal service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Tuesday January 11 at 2PM where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Daniel.
