Charlotte married Patrick Eddinger in Battle Creek, MI, and later moved to Florida in 1971. She was employed by Howard Johnson for many years before opening her own restaurant in Michigan. She was a former member of the Grand Ledge Women Auxiliary in Michigan and a current member of the Cocoa Beach Women’s Club, where she enjoyed participating in local and state events and won several awards for her crochet work. She previously attended Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach.
She loved family gatherings, road trips with her sisters, casinos, flea markets, shoes and being creative. Her friends would tell you that she was never afraid to try something new or to let you know exactly what she thought. She had a quick wit and a no-nonsense character, which usually proved Charlotte’s way or the highway. These strengths aided her in supporting and protecting her family and keeping us all in line.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Theresa(Mike) Simpson of Satellite Beach, FL, Donna(Steve) Hoffman of Battle Creek, MI, Clyde Lannie Miles(Dory Miles) of Merritt Island, FL, BeLinda Miles(Ed Marpoe) of Deland, FL; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who she loved deeply; two sisters: Emma Lee Baker and Zula(Johnny) Wood; sister-in-law, Barbara Powers; and 11 nieces and nephews who were close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three very special brothers and two sisters-in-law, all of North Carolina.
Her doctor recently called her “The Little Engine that Could” and family could not agree more.
A visitation will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home Sunday(3/29) from 1-2PM with a service at 2PM. Interment will follow services at Florida Memorial Gardens.
