

Born September 8, 1924, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Rev. and Mrs. Raymond L. Walker, now deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Hattie Swallows Walker, and his brother Loyd G. Walker along with nieces and nephews. He had no children of his own. He went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2015.
He was a graduate of Greenville High School, Greenville IL; Greenville College, Greenville, IL; and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.
He taught 6, 7, and 8th grades one year in Witt, Illinois.
He served in World War II from April, 1943-December, 1945, in the U.S. army, Third Infantry Division in North Africa and Italy and was part of the Cassino Front and the Anzio Beach Head. He was part of the 800th Engineers Forestry Company in southern Italy.
He served as Minister of Christian Education for approximately 34 years in five churches:
First Baptist Auburndale 5 years
First Baptist Winter Haven 10+ years
North Park Baptist, Orlando, 6 ½ years
First Baptist of Panama City 3 years
First Baptist Cocoa 9 years
After retirement he worked as a funeral associate at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home several years.
He served in various capacities in several organizations:
President of Florida Baptist Religious Education Association 1 year
Associational Sunday School Director in Greater Orlando Association 6 years and Brevard Baptist Association 8 years
Served on Florida Baptist Witness paper commission for 6 years
Joined Kiwanis in 1977 in Panama City and later served as president of the Cocoa Kiwanis Club 1985-1986.
