Joan Elizabeth Caruso

Joan Elizabeth Bleyer was born July 21, 1940 in Lake Forest Illinois. She moved with her parents, John and Betty Bleyer to Miami, Florida at the age of 6 months. She attended grade school in Miami graduating from Miami Edison High School. She entered the University of Florida in 1958 where she met her husband, Joe Teague Caruso. She was active in student government and Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated with a BA in Education in 1965 and received a teaching degree. She moved to Merritt Island in 1967 with her 3 children following her husband’s graduation from law school.

Joan was active in civic and charitable organizations throughout her life and served on many Board of Directors including Brevard Cultural Alliance and Space Coast Marine Institute. Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years, 3 children, Nicole Elizabeth Seropian who lives in Boca Raton, Michael Caruso who resides in West Palm Beach, and Joe Teague Caruso, Jr. who resides in Rockledge, and 5 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. A Reception will be held following the Service at Café Marguax, Cocoa Village. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Hospice and the Central Brevard Humane Society.
