Leslie Letricia Owens

Leslie Owens, 51, of Merritt Island, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014,surrounded by her family. She left this place to be with the angels. Special thanks are extended to the members of the medical staff of Viera and Cape Canaveral Hospitals and to the staff of the Wuesthoff Hospice House for all of the love and support they provided during this difficult time.Leslie was born in Kensington, Maryland on May 3, 1962. She lived a very purpose driven life with great passion for her family, her friends and her work. Her boys to whom she gave one hundred and ten percent were always number one. She would move heaven and earth for them. Matt and Mikey agree that their Mom was truly the best mom ever.She was always involved in her friend's lives, often putting them before herself. Her life showed others the meaning of sacrificial love.Leslie's career was always important to her. She was with Siemens Telecommunications in Boca Raton for ten years. Leslie then moved to Brevard County and worked with Northrop Grumman with a design team for seventeen years.Leslie is survived by her two sons, Matthew Owens of Boca Raton, and Michael Owens of Merritt Island. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Alice Allen and Leslie's Brother Tom Gonzales. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 3PM at Georgianna United Methodist Church in Merritt Island. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Leslie's memory to the Georgianna United Methodist Church of Merritt Island Mission Fund and to Michael Owens at 1070 Shady Lane, Merritt Island for his education. - Arrangements under the direction of Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, Merritt Island, FL.
