

Marvin Ray Hollar, Jr.(Vinny), 77, of Port St.Lucie, formerly of Merritt Island, Florida and originally from Hickory, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Cape Canaveral Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born October 12,1944, in Hickory, NC and was the son of the late Marvin R. Hollar, Sr. and Cora Huffman Hollar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robbin Lee Hollar; and brother, George Robbin Hollar.
Marvin was a graduate of Hickory High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College( University). He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Air Division, as a helicopter gunner. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice for injuries received. He obtained his pilot license in the early 1970’s and continued to fly along side his son, Jonathan until the last year. He was the owner/operator of All-Car Services in Merritt Island for many years. He was of the Catholic faith.
Marvin is survived by his brother, John(Johnny) Hollar (Deborah), of Hickory, NC; sisters: Corinne H. Townsend (Mark), of Hudson, NC, and Trish H. Byrd (Ty), of Kure Beach, NC.; three sons: Erick A. Hollar, of Greensboro, NC, Gabriel A. Thompson (Sarah), of Chugiak, Alaska, and Jonathan M. Hollar (Jill), of Lake Worth, Florida; six granddaughters: Maranda Hollar, Alexis Hollar, Isabella Thompson, Sky, Sloan, and Paris Hollar.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home of Merritt Island, Florida, is serving the Family.
