Mildred B Williams

Mildred Batts Williams, 96 Years young, of Cocoa, Fl., passed away peacefully at home October 9, 2015. A native of Wallace, North Carolina, Mildred moved to Cocoa in 1959 from Norfolk, Va. with her family after her husband, a Pearl Harbor Survivor, retired from the Navy. She was a loyal member of King Street Baptist Church in Cocoa and she devoted her life to her family and community.

Mildred served two terms on the Cocoa City Council, from 1977-1983.She was a long time member of the WMU, (Womens Missionary Union),

through King Street Baptist Church.In addition she was a member of the Cocoa Woman’s Club, Cocoa Beautification Board, Cocoa Housing Authority and Board of Adjustments, Christians Women’s Club, the Rockledge Garden Club, and Brevard County Board of Elections. Mildred also supported the Seafarer’s Ministry at Port Canaveral, FL., and served as substitute teacher and Scout Den Mother soon after moving to Cocoa. She also thoroughly enjoyed serving as a volunteer for over forty years with Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge,FL., mainly in the surgical waiting room assisting families of patients.

Mildred was preceded death in by her parents, Willard and Eva Batts, younger siblings to include brothers; Willis (Ann), Horace (Faye), Bernice (Ada) and sister Frances. She is survived by two sons; Eric and Mark Williams, Grandchildren; Melissa (Ryan), Justin, Angie, Erica, Michele (Maleya) and Caleb, and one Great Grandson Johannes. She loved and is loved by so many and will be deeply missed. Mildred's body was escorted to interment by her nephews, Stan Batts, Ivan Batts, Chris Batts and Charles Batts, all of North Carolina, and her grandsons, Justin Williams of West Virginia and Caleb Williams of Cocoa Fl.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to King Street Baptist Church: 1040 W. King Street, Cocoa, FL. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday October 17, 2015 with visitation at 2pm and services at 3pm at King Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow services at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
