Richard Michael Aguirre was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 8, 1954. He is survived by his wife Tina, sons Ricky and Josh, daughter Alana, son-in-law Rolf, grandchildren Austin, Evan and Avery, and many relatives in the Kansas City area and in Oregon. He is preceded in death by his mother Carmen, father Michael and wife Pam.
After receiving his associate’s degree in electronics he left Kansas City at age 20 and started his professional career in Brevard County, Florida. For the next 40 years he worked on various USNS Range Tracking Ships and at Patrick Air Force Base, supporting launch operations of the ATLAS and TITAN/CENTAUR projects.
Rick took great pride in his work, but of even more value was his 22 year marriage to Pam, their 3 children and his relationship with Jesus Christ. Rick was very proud of his children Ricky, Alana, and Josh. Raising them by example to work hard, be a person of your word, love Jesus, and cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs.
For 34 years, Rick attended and served at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island. During those years, he especially enjoyed serving as an elder and passing on his love of the Bible through teaching in children’s ministry.
In 2023, after Rick was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, the Lord grew Rick’s friendship with Tina into marriage. They walked through his illness together until he went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2024.
A Celebration of Life is being held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10am at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island, 3500 N Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Chapel Merritt Island for the Not Forgotten Project which provides food and blankets for the elderly in remote villages in Kenya.
