Born in Manhattan, New York, on June 20, 1938, Sal graduated from Seward Park High School—always proud to note that the school’s alumni included Tony Curtis. He went on to earn a certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from the Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology.
Sal served with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict in the 1950s. After his military service, he returned home, married and began a family, welcoming his children Salvatore and Andrea.
In 1982, he married Rosaria DeGaetano, and together they shared many joyful years. Sal had a successful career as a Sales Director for several graphics companies, where he was respected for his professionalism and dedication.
A man of many interests, Sal enjoyed coin collecting, World War II history, and games of chance. He was a proud Chevalier of the Sovereign Order of Cyprus, an organization committed to promoting Christian values. He was also an enthusiastic fan of Packers football and, true to his New York roots, Yankees baseball.
Though time and illness may have slowed his step, Sal’s sharp wit and spirit remained strong. He was a kind, gentle man whose wisdom, warmth, and quiet strength touched all who knew him.
Sal was preceded in death by his brothers, Rosario and John. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah (Rosaria DeGaetano); his son, Salvatore; his daughter, Andrea (Chip) Deklyn; his grandchildren, Logan Migliorisi and Caelyn Deklyn; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Visitation will be held on July 22nd at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy at 9:30 am with a Funeral to follow. The committal will be at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL on July 22nd at 12:30pm.
