"Shirley Rose Brown, born in 1935, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at Cape Canaveral Hospital, with her daughter by her side. She was a loving mother, a generous soul, an adventurous spirit, and the cherished keeper of her family’s history.
Shirley’s greatest joy was her six children. She is survived by John, Patty, Cheryl, Ray, and Michael, and is now reunited with her infant daughter Cynthia. Her children were, and always will be, the center of her world.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Shirley owned and operated her own floral business, bringing beauty and joy to the lives of those around her. She lived in a condo in Cocoa Beach, where she embraced life with the heart and soul of a true Key West Conch.
Her adventurous nature was one of the greatest gifts she gave to her children. With little warning and plenty of enthusiasm, she would whisk them away on spontaneous trips across Florida, to the springs, to theme parks, and to watch the Apollo rockets lift off near Cape Canaveral. Those joyful journeys became treasured family memories and reflected the spirited way she moved through life.
More than anything, Shirley would want to be remembered in the good times, in the laughter, the stories, the adventures, and the love she shared.
She may have left Key West, but Key West never left her."
