Alfonse Morena, 89 of Mesa, passed away on December 19, 2016. Al was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 14, 1927, the son of Dominic and Josephine Morena. He married Phyllis Tonini on September 14, 1952. Alfonse was dedicated to his country and served in the US Navy during WWII. He extended his dedication to serving others for 20 years as a New York City Police Officer. Al is survived by his daughters, Joanne Gibbons, Luanne Rohrbacker, and Phyllis Lella; brother, John Morena; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, who passed away in April of this year. A memorial service for Alfonse will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel, 6625 E. Main St., Mesa.
