Alice Patricia Sontag

Alice Patricia Sontag, 75, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Islip Terrace, NY, passed away, March 2, 2019. She was born August 8, 1943 in Long Branch, NJ to Peter Andrew and Antoinette [Verdone] Hughes. At a very young age, Alice moved with her family to Uniondale, NY, there she attended Uniondale, High School, graduating in 1960. After highs school, she met David Charles Sontag; they were later married on June 3, 1961 and started their family and raised their two children, Patricia and Michael. Alice was very crafty and enjoyed drawing, painting, gardening and any kind of do-it-yourself work around the house. She was a skilled florist and owned and operated the Precious Petals Flower Shop in Islip Terrace, NY. She had a love for all animals and had four parrots, but was especially fond of dogs. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Antoinette; her beloved husband of 37 years, David Charles Sontag, who passed away, November 12, 1998 and her brother, Peter Andrew Sontag. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Doug) Hemberger; son, Mike (Laura) Sontag and four grandchildren, David and Antoinette Hemberger and Samantha and Peter Sontag. Services will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday March 6, 2019 with a visitation one hour prior at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 East Broadway Rd, Mesa AZ 85206.
