

Alma passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Lincoln Nebraska. Alma was born on February 11, 1955 in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Edward Maynez on April 2, 2010. He survives. Alma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She was a very dedicated Temple worker who loved working with the church youth. She was also very active with family history. Prior to pursuing her degree as a Medical Assistant, she was employed by M. D. Helicopters as Senior Administrative Assistant. Alma will long be remembered for her involvement in her community and her generous, helpful attitude. She enjoyed helping the elderly with their daily activities, was involved with Meals on Wheels, and was often seen lending a helping hand at local homeless shelters. In addition to her husband, Alma is survived by her daughter, Alma Kenney and her husband Brandon; three sisters, Maria Cedillo, Becky Thayne, and Rosa Alsop. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Acosta and Rebecca Chavez-Acosta; and two brothers, Manny Acosta, Jr., and Chuy Acosta. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1054 West 2nd Place, Mesa, AZ. Following the service Alma will be laid to rest at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospitals for Children.
