Ann was a hardworking domestic engineer regularly putting in hundreds of hours of overtime, with what this son believes to be incommensurate remuneration.  Always one to join in on a patriotic pursuit, she devotedly added her fair share of a total of five children to participate in the frolicking sonic of the Baby Boom.  With more given than received, you would never hear a complaint from Ann.

As an active champion for women’s rights, Ann let her position be known through her actions rather than words as she diligently carried out her Jewelry Sales employment with Woolworth’s department store, between 1963 and 1967, as her husband attended classes as a full-time student of Arizona State University.   Ann ended her career as a Wholesale Buyer employed by Dillard’s Department Store in the late 1980’s.

An early community activist of the 1960’s, Ann served her local community as a Cub Scout leader and later as a volunteer youth drug counselor at the local middle school.  In what spare time Ann could manage to arrange during the 50’s and 60’s, Ann enjoyed playing Bridge, painting, crafting ceramics, and creating gold leaf decoupage keepsakes.  One activity that the family is glad she did not pursue was Ann’s driving of the family car, then a 1959 Ford Thunderbird, at a one-time, speedometer bending, 120+ miles per hour.

Ann’s favorite charity, one she had hoped, in vain, would not have the need to be established, was the Wounded Warrior Project.  Ann’s family asks that in lieu of flowers and like donations that a donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.


For My Mother

See the old woman
I heard someone say
She was a beauty
In her younger day

That shallow comment
Just doesn't make sense
A beauty that was
They use the past tense

Of this old woman
Not much is known
Except that she has 
Children full grown

No greater courage
Can ever be known
Greater that what 
A mother has shown

There is a beauty
Beyond any other
In all of the women
That can be called mother

The beauty is there
For all who would see
I see her beauty
It's found easily

It's there in the wrinkles
That line her sweet face
And there in her eyes
Of such sparkling grace

The sagging in places
Those stretch marks upon her 
Are badges of courage
And medals of honor
