71, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on August 9, 2014. She was born on September 8, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John Gospeter and Delores Fondrich Gospeter. Barbie is survived by her partner, Paul R. Way; her children, Toni Gerst, Teri Abbott, Richard Carlson, Lisa Peck, John Carlson and many stepdaughters and stepsons; her many grandchildren as well as one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband William Carlson in May of 1998 and her husband Lawrence Schugg in February 2006. Barbie was a long term member of the American Legion Auxiliary. A celebration of Barbie’s life will take place her in Arizona at American Legion Post 26 and in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Times and dates for these events will be announced at a later time.
