Barbara Stewart Jellema, born on October 24, 1942, in Middletown, New York, passed away peacefully at her home in Mesa, Arizona, on January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and love touched everyone who knew her. Family was the most important part of her life, and she always put her loved ones first, offering them unconditional love and unwavering support.
She shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Clarence Bernard Jellema. Together, they shared a love for travel, exploring the country and visiting friends and family along the way. Whether on the road or at home, Barbara embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure.
She leaves behind her husband, Clarence; her two loving daughters, Darlene Lynn Jellema and Michele Renee Jacobsen; and her cherished grandson, Wyatt Tolton Jacobsen, who brought her endless joy and happiness.
Barbara was a woman of great integrity, generosity, and strength—a loyal friend, a hard worker, and an inspiration to those around her. She was known for speaking her mind and standing by her beliefs, always offering support, wisdom, and kindness to those in her life.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Barbara loved staying active. She enjoyed riding her bike and playing water volleyball with friends, but her greatest passion was softball. She dedicated much of her life to the game and found immense joy in playing.
In her honor, the family asks that you take a moment to cherish your loved ones and embrace the spirit of kindness, generosity, and adventure that she so beautifully embodied.
Barbara will be dearly missed, but her love and light will live on in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life will be hosted by Mike and Nadine on February 22, 2025 from Noon to 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family.
