Barbara C. Mayberry, 97, a resident of Gilbert, AZ, passed away January 26, 2017 Gilbert, AZ. She was born September 19, 1919 in Los Angeles, CA to Gene and Christine [Machado] Cross. In her early years, Barbara worked for J.C. Penney Co; she then, being a Naval wife to Tillman Mayberry who had 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy, went on to work in Civil Service as a Commander’s Administrative Assistant. During her career in Civil Service, she received multiple awards for her service excellence and work ethics. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of more than 77 years, Tillman Mayberry; the two were married on June 25, 1939 – “Till Death Do Us Part.” She is also survived by her sons, Steven E. Mayberry and William G. Mayberry; grandchildren from Steve, Veronica and Monica, and from Gary, Michelle and Melanie as well as four great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from12:00 – 1:00pm with a funeral service immediately following on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa AZ 85206.
