65, passed away on July 7th, 2013 at Lund Home in Gilbert, Az. after a brief, yet valiant, battle with liver cancer. Bern, as he liked to be called, lived a fun-filled and joyous life. Bern is survived by his dearest and most beloved friend and caregiver, Dannel Chance, who cared for him over 18 years. He also helped raise Jordin Prutch, who only knows him as "Uncle Bern". Bern is also survived by his 2 children, Scott Walker and Lauri Martin as well as 4 siblings, Jeff Walker, Brian Walker, Mike Walker and Kathy Lennert. Bern was born in Waukegan Il, son to Marilyn Larsen and Jesus Trujillo, the bond he had with his mom, Marilyn, was very close and dear to his heart. Bern always recanted stories of his youth and all the trouble he got into, but he always looked back and laughed at it all. Bern is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a proud Marine and served 3 tours from 1967-69. After his time in the military, Bern started his career as a business entrepreneur. First joining a business partner launching a successful hat embroidery business, then branching off on his own to start Maintenance and Porter cleaning service, this was his beloved business that he personally looked after daily. The pride Bern showed in doing the work that most people would look down on is truly a testament to his professionalism, dedication and discipline. He lived his life with those values without waiver, as all those close to him would attest. Bern had great passions in his life, especially his Oakland Raiders and M&M souvenir collection. He loved the time spent in Jamaica and asked to have his ashes scattered there.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of our beloved Bern will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, 43 South Stapley Drive, Mesa Arizona 85204 (480) 964-4537.
