Brenda Lynne Bailey, 50 years old, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on February 25, 2021, after fighting cancer for nearly a year. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gregory, of Phoenix, Arizona; her sons, Nicholas and Stephen; her daughter, Sophia; her mother, Norma Martinez; and sisters, Deborah Goodman (David) and Sandra Whitehead (Garrick).
Brenda grew up in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Eastwood High School. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso, the University of Colorado, and earned her BS degree in computer science from the University of Utah.
She and Greg married in Boulder, Colorado, in 1994. They moved soon after to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they were active in volunteer church ministries, and started a family. In 2004, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she became increasingly involved with their children's education. She worked as an aide and volunteer at both the local elementary school and high school that the children attended, and later served on the board of Valley Christian Schools.
Brenda was an active member of Arizona Community Church, where she served as the music and worship administrator, and participated in several additional ministries, including women's ministry and choir.
Her hobbies included painting--several full wall murals as well as traditional art pieces. She also loved travel, reading, history, and participation in small group Bible studies. She and Greg enjoyed visits to Italy, Israel, and Germany, as well as frequent trips with their children throughout the U.S. and Mexico. She always took lots of photographs and created many beautiful keepsake photo albums of these trips.
