

Catherine Michiko Iwamoto passed away on March 10, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in California to Miyoshi and Chiye (nee Yamamura) Kurosaki, Catherine arrived on June 8, 1917. During World War II, her family was relocated to Utah, where they went into farming sugar beets. After the war, they moved to the San Fernando Valley, where they continued in farming. On October 12, 1935, Catherine married Robert in Los Angeles, at the Higashi Honganji Church. Catherine spent 25 years married to the love of her life, Robert, together they had 3 children. Robert opened a grocery store, which Catherine took over after he passed away. Catherine sold the grocery store and started a tropical fish store. A passion for horse racing was shared by Catherine and Robert. Their horse, Tishomingo, won 1st place and made it to the winner’s circle at the Santa Anita Race Course., Catherine also had a passion for dancing. When she retired she started ball room dancing. Traveling all over the world dancing in competition, she wowed the judges and took home many awards. In her spare time, she loved to spend time in the kitchen. Lemon meringue pie was her specialty. After retirement, spending more time with her grandchildren brought her so much joy. Catherine is survived by her children Dennis (Susan) Iwamoto, and Grace (Tom) Izuhara, grandchildren Deanne, Debbie, Aubrey, Austin, and Dean, and great grandchildren Keana, Tylar, Chase, and Cash. Her beloved husband Robert, daughter Susan Tomi Iwamoto, and her parents preceded her in death. A memorial service to honor Catherine will be held on March 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church of Fountain Hills 15555 Bainbridge Avenue Fountain Hills, Arizona 85268.
