

Charles "Charlie" DiMaggio, age 90, of Tempe, Arizona, was reunited with his beloved wife Gertrude DiMaggio in heaven, on March 31, 2013. He was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the weeks before his passing.
Charlie's parents came from Palermo, Sicily and he was very proud of his Italian decent, he often talked about his "good Italian values". He was born in New York city, New York to Antonio and Lisetta DiMaggio in 1922. He served in the Army-Air Force at the age of 19 and served in World War II.
Charlie married Gertrude DiMaggio in February 19, 1947 and they were blessed with five children: Chuck, Arlene, Thomas, Joseph, and Michael. They moved from New York to Arizona, where Charlie has a career in maintenance and retired from the Post Office. He was very involved with the community and loved to go bowling. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Charlie played a major role in the lives of his 14 grandchildren: Shannon, Lisa, Tiffany, Joey, Kristie, Tricia, Alecia, Paul, Steven, Ashley, Aaron, Michael Jr, Makenzie, and Benjamin. Charlie is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren: Sabrina, Josh, Zachary, Ben, Mason, Danny, Karlie, Emily, Jimmy, Lilly, Maddie, Sofia, Milo, Violet and Hayley.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the members of the Clare Bridge Hospice Facility in Tempe, Arizona for their care of Charlie during his time with them in the past 4 years.
A visitation service will be held honoring Charlie at the Melcher Mortuaries Chapel of the Roses, on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 5-730pm, with a rosary service from 730pm-800pm. They are located at 43 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ 85204.
The funeral mass will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 1000am-1100am at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1800 E Libra Drive, Tempe, AZ 85283.
