Cory Joseph Garitone, cherished son, husband, brother, son-in-law and friend, went home to the Lord unexpectedly on March 19, 2026, at the age of 38. Born on May 19, 1987, in Seattle, Washington, Cory grew up in Federal Way, where he filled his family’s home with laughter, curiosity, and a spirit of adventure that reflected the light within him and was a blessing to everyone who knew him.
Cory attended Federal Way High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and first discovered his love for engineering and problem-solving. He later continued his education at Arizona State University, graduating in 2010 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering—a field that perfectly matched his sharp mind, curiosity, and determination. After graduation, Cory made Arizona his home, building a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and joy.
In October 2022, Cory married the love of his life, Monica Klemp, beginning a beautiful chapter marked by devotion, partnership, and deep affection. Their marriage was a blessing to all who witnessed it, a reflection of the love and grace they shared.
Cory lived life with enthusiasm and a generous heart. He loved playing golf, cheering on the Seattle Seahawks, and seeking out new adventures—big and small. He had a wonderfully quirky sense of humor, the kind that could light up a room, and he carried a kindness and consideration that made people feel seen and valued. His gentle nature, quick wit, and generous spirit left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Cory’s gentle way of loving people was one of his greatest gifts.
Those who knew Cory felt the goodness in him. His life was a reminder of the beauty in simple joys, the importance of compassion, and the power of a loving heart. Though his time here was far too short, his impact will continue to echo in the lives he touched.
Cory is survived by his parents, Joe (“Pops”) and Lynda (“Momma”) Garitone, who cherished him beyond measure; his brother, Jared, who shared a lifetime of memories and brotherly camaraderie; and his wife, Monica, who was his greatest joy. He was deeply loved by his in-laws, Harold & Debbie Klemp and he is also remembered by his loyal dog, Tucker (“Little Man”), who was always by his side. Cory is further remembered with love by extended family and countless friends whose lives were brightened by his presence, and he is reunited in heaven with his grandparents—Steve Sr. and Paula Brown, and his Papa and Nana, John and Florence Garitone—who went before him.
Cory’s life was a gift—full of love, humor, curiosity, and compassion. We rest in the promise that Cory is now held in the eternal peace of Christ, where there is no more sorrow and no more pain. Though our hearts ache, we hold fast to the hope that we will see him again, and that the love he shared remains with us—steadfast, enduring, and forever cherished.
