

Daniel O’Sullivan passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2020. He was 90 years old. The last six months he has been in a memory care facility at Mariposa Point in Gilbert. He was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer’s .
Daniel was born and raised in NYC and joined the United States Navy right out of school during the Korean War. He was a communication specialist on the ships USS O’Hare and USS Gyatt.
After his tour in the US Navy , he continued to serve in both the NYPD and NYFD. He retired early from those positions to move out to California with his wife, Julia, to start their family.
After a few years, they returned to the East Coast to be closer to family and friends. He remained in NJ and worked until moving to Arizona in 1993 to enjoy babysitting his grandchildren.
Daniel worked until he was 80, finishing his last job at Bethany Bible School watching over the children in the morning prior to the start of class. He was affectionately known by the children and staff as Mr. Dan.
He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor and how he loved teasing people.
He enjoyed visiting neighbors and was willing to help everyone with their projects.
Daniel was a good husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Julia, daughters Carol and Laura and grandchildren Lauren, Andrew, sister Sheila, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Daniel will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with a private family ceremony.
