Dennis grew up in Apache Junction, Arizona in the mid-fifties when the town was small. The Junction was still like the old Wild West. There were a lot of crazy and weird people looking for the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine and all with guns on their hips. Shoot out in the Superstition Mountains was normal in those days. Sheriff Toby Drummond had to ride his horses into the mountains to bring out the bodies. Apache Junction is where Dennis spends most of his younger life and going to school. He grew up with six brothers (Martin, Jimmy, Richard, Alan, Steven, and Glen) and two sisters (Adelaide and Elaine). He married Bobbie Peterson, his high school girlfriend and had three children, Tonya Lynn, Eric, and Jason. He enlisted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18 years where he was first stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was also stations in Frankfurt, Germany from 1981 to 1987 and spent one year in South Korea. He retired from his last station at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a Command Sergeant Major. He had remarried Claire Lief and had three Stepdaughters Carla, Kristania, and Cynthia. He leaves behind sixteen grandkids and seven great grandkids. After Dennis' retirement he moved back to Apache Junction where he had a new home built on the same land that he was raised.
He had been battling diabetes for many years and then had to battle lung cancer and COPD. Sometimes God sees the pain we are in and then calls us up to heaven to end our pain here on earth. Dennis will truly be missed by everyone that loves and knew him. Dennis will be together in heaven with Mom, Dad, Jimmy, Richard, Steven, and Elaine.
