Donald Wayne Allen, 73, of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away peacefully on
November 17, 2024.
Don was born in Palisade, Colorado on December 27, 1950, the first of 3 children to
Dorothy Irene Schimpf Allen and Robert Stokes Allen. Don graduated from Palisade High
School in 1969 where he played football and trumpet in the band.
Eager for adventure, Don went to work for a carnival that was traveling through town. On
May 6, 1972, while working the Flying Bobs ride at Helldorado Days in Las Vegas, NV, he
met Regina Ann Cornelison. Six weeks later, on June 16th, they eloped in Denver Colorado.
Don served briefly in the Army as a clerk in the JAG Corp and explored many adventurous
jobs, including carny, commercial diver, coal miner and deputy sheriff. He finally settled
into a career in sales and advertising. Don had an amazing gift for gab and was very
successful in sales, winning many awards. He never lost his adventurous spirit and often
started entrepreneurial projects with his long-time friend and business partner, Rob
Schlosser.
Don was very social and loved his family and friends dearly, he always spoke affectionately
about his childhood growing up in a small town with his cousins and extended family.
He was a fan of movies and would often quote lines from his favorites. He had a great
sense of humor and will be remembered for his delivery of great dad one liners, such as “It
is what it is”, “EGBOK” (everything’s going to be ok) and “nothing good happens after
midnight”. Don enjoyed studying history, following politics and watching Oregon Ducks
football. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann, daughter Mandie (Jon) Wallace, sons Aaron
(Lorena) Allen and Jesse Allen. Don is also a proud Papa to 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Dorothy, stepmother Patricia, brother
Jeff, sisters Debbie and Patty and his son Josh.
A memorial open house for family and friends will be held Saturday, December 7th from
11:00am-1:00pm at 251 N. 114th St, Apache Junction AZ. Interment will be private.
The family of Don Allen would like to extend their sincere thanks to Canyon Home Care and
Hospice for the care and kindness provided to him in his final years.
