
Dores J. Hatfield passed away March 18, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born July 8, 1922 in Wichita, Kansas to Roy Wilson and Mae Reigle Johnson. They lived in Caldwell, Kansas. Upon graduation from High School in 1940, she attended Lindenwood College in Missouri for a year before transferring to the University of Oklahoma from which she graduated in 1943. In 1944, she married Scott Bishop who was a script writer at WKY radio station in Oklahoma City where she worked as an actress and secretary to the Program Director. They moved to Miami Beach, Florida where he was a script writer and she was a traffic manager at WKAT radio station. They soon moved to Miami where Scott became Producer, Director and Script Writer for radio and television station WIOD. They traveled worldwide, enjoying photography and history. She had two daughters, Daryl and Lea, and two step-daughters, Valerie and Judith. In 1999, Scott suffered a stroke and passed away. Dores moved to Michigan where her kindergarten sweetheart, Jack Hatfield, a widower, found her. They were married in 2000. She moved to his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was welcomed by two wonderful step-daughters, Susan and Sally and their loving families. Dores and Jack shared nine exciting and unforgettable years together. He passed away in 2009. Dores was an ardent St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners. She acted both in radio and on stage and did many one-woman shows and poetry readings. She is survived by her daughters Lea and Covert Bailey of Mesa, Daryl and Barry Cantine of Charlotte, Michigan, step-daughters Valerie Bateman of Rossville, Georgia, Susan Bechtold and Sally and Jim Clark of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Jenifer and Tim Radee of Lansing, Michigan. She is further survived by several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
