Born on June 17, 1932, in Brady, Texas, Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, known for her warmth and kindness; many would say she never met a stranger. She graduated from Harlingen High School in 1949, where she met the love of her life at a football game, Gilbert Ernest Hees, who was home on leave from the Navy. They were married on May 7, 1950, and shared 64 beautiful years together before his passing in 2014.
Dorothy’s life was marked by her deep faith and selfless service. As the wife of a deacon and eventually a elder, she dedicated her life to serving the Lord, her church, and her community. She generously gave her time, resources, and love to everyone around her—church members, neighbors, friends, family and even strangers.
Dorothy was a gracious host, delighting in cooking and caring for her loved ones. Whether in person, over the phone, or through text, she maintained close connections with those she cherished, becoming a beloved second mother to many. Known as an "emoji wizard," she had a unique way of staying connected with all generations. Her passions included reading, spending time at the beach, listening to music, and shopping. Dorothy’s caring and giving nature made her beloved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Rosa Jones, her brother Noel Jones, her husband Gilbert Ernest Hees, her son-in-law Mark Krall, and her granddaughter Jennifer Krall.
Dorothy’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her brother, Stephen Jones and his wife Melissa.
